The Happier Lives Institute was founded in late 2018 by a group of people who deeply care about well-being around the world. Our occupations range from philosophers to doctors to advocates for better mental health policies. We don’t want to just theorise about how to ‘do good’, but put our words into action and bring about positive change.
Although governments and think-tanks are starting to consider well-being as part of their agenda, for an individual or an organisation aiming to help people become happier globally, there seems to be relatively little evidence-based information currently available. We therefore decided to found something new. The team worked together in their spare time, aiming to produce valuable research that would further our understanding of how to effectively improve global happiness. HLI has expanded to a network of volunteer researchers as well as three employees - and we plan to keep growing! Our vision is a world where everyone lives their happiest life. Our mission is to guide the decision-making of those individuals and organisations who want to use their resources to most effectively make people’s lives happier.
