How does StrongMinds work?
StrongMinds treats depression using Group Interpersonal Therapy (IPT-G), an evidence-based model that is highly scalable. They also provide psychoeducational and engage in advocacy to reduce stigma and unlock funding and resources to support mental health in underserved settings.
Their approach is composed of four pillars:
- treatment: they provide free, community-based therapy to people in low-resource settings, with a primary focus on Africa to-date
- research: they obsessively track their impact to refine and strengthen their model
- advocacy: they galvanize the global development community to advance supportive policies
- partnerships: they partner with governments and NGOs to integrate their model into existing programs and services.
